3rd Bridgend Scout Group - Scouting for the community of Cefn Glas and the surrounding area

 About  Scouts

The Scout Section is for young people, aged between 10½ and 14 years. It is a time of discovery;  getting to know your own abilities, keeping fit for life and developing creative talents. It’s also a time for a Scout to explore their own values and personal attitudes. Being outdoors is important and there are many opportunities to learn the traditional Scouting skills, such as camping, survival and cooking as well as the wide range of adventurous activities. Scouting is also about being with friends, as part of a team, participating fully in the adventure and opportunities of life.

 What we do

Much of the time spent in Scout Troop meetings is used on scouting skills and activities to prepare the Scouts for camp. We go away on Camp weekends as often as we can and experience the outdoor life in all seasons. We also organise many fun activities during our meetings where we play various games and generally have a noisey and boisterous time. Badge work is also an important part of Scouting and our Scouts can work toward achieving the standards required for gaining a badge. We attend District events and this gives us an opportunity to meet other Scouts. We have a Carol Service at Christmas, remember those who fought for our country on Remembrance Sunday and renew our promise at St. George's Day service.

A Scout has self respect and respect for others.

 Scout Motto

Be Prepared.

 Parents

The Scout Group will always welcome the help of parents/guardians. There are many ways in which you can give a helping hand. You could get involved in assisting the leaders during an evening meeting, or perhaps help in a fund raising event or even provide a much needed extra pair of hands at a camp. You may also have a particular skill, hobby or knowledge which could be shared with the Troop at a meeting. Please consider these possibilities and see Steve Sloan or Christine Faulkner (Akela/GSL) for information.
